About the Firm
For more than 50 years, Worden Williams has practiced law from the San Diego coast. Founded in 1975 and based in Solana Beach, the firm has grown alongside the communities it serves — counseling families, closely-held businesses, public agencies, and real estate principals through generations of personal and commercial change.
A San Diego Coastal Practice
Worden Williams is a small firm by design. We work the way coastal communities work: through long-term relationships, careful judgment, and a real understanding of the people and institutions on the other end of every matter. Many of our clients have been with the firm for decades, and many came to us through introductions from other clients, CPAs, financial advisors, and the agencies and organizations the firm has served over its 50-year history.
Practice Areas
The firm advises clients across six practice areas:
- Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law — sophisticated estate and tax planning, trust and estate administration, probate court matters, and fiduciary litigation. Our practice includes a Certified Legal Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law (certified by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization).
- Real Property — transactions and disputes ranging from single-property purchases through complex multi-parcel acquisitions and sophisticated commercial leasing.
- Land Use and Environmental Law — entitlements, environmental compliance, CEQA review, and litigation under the major federal and California land use and environmental statutes.
- Litigation — civil litigation across the firm’s substantive practice areas, with an emphasis on practical resolution and trial readiness.
- Business — formation, ongoing counsel, and succession planning for closely-held businesses, family enterprises, and real estate entities.
- Public Agency — general and special counsel services to cities, special districts, and joint powers authorities throughout San Diego County.
Approach
The firm’s attorneys are admitted to practice across multiple jurisdictions and bring substantive depth in their respective practice areas — combined with the operational, business, and community understanding that comes from decades of practice in this region. We approach every matter as the start of a relationship rather than a transaction, and we work closely with our clients’ other professional advisors — accountants, financial advisors, and specialist counsel — to ensure that legal strategy aligns with the broader picture.
